As I blogged about last Wednesday here, we are off to Trinidad and Tobago for 10 days!  I am SO EXCITED to get away from reality for a bit.  I won't have much access to a computer, but when I do, I will try to do a little blogging (not promising anything though)!  Either way, I will bring back a ton of pictures and stories.  See you soon! recipe: chicken piccata

The other night, I made a Chicken Piccata recipe by Giada De Laurentiis that I found on the food network.  It was YUMMY and super EASY so I thought I would share.  Let me know if you try it...I would love to hear from you!

Today we are highlighting another product from Serena & Lily...the Pondicherry Headboard.  It is so CURVALICIOUS!  I would love to add this beauty to my guest bedroom covered in a cool pattern.  Serena & Lily provides a ton of fabrics to choose from and you can also pick from 3 colors for the headboard legs.  Unfortunately, this version isn't very easy on the pocketbook.  The queen size will run you $1,250 but isn't it BEAUTIFUL!

mid-week inspiration: beach vacation

Soooo, I am leaving for TRINIDAD & TOBAGO next Wednesday for, what I know will be, an amazing vacation!  Woo Hoo!  My mom's side of the family is from Trinidad and we are going for my cousin's wedding.  We will also be spending much time on the BEACH, which has inspired this week's mid-week inspiration.  Aren't these images just beautiful?  I hope to share an array of my own pictures when I get back!

Color blocking seems to be a big trend in fashion these days.  Aren't these popsicles a great interpretation of this style?

According to the Huffington Post, Missoni hits Target stores on September 13!  Missoni is a family-owned Italian company infamous for their zigzags, waves and patterned knits.  I am so EXCITED for this collaboration...just take a look at some of these FABULOUS products we will soon see at Target.  My friend Nicole says she is going to buy that AWESOME bike as soon as its available online! mid-week inspiration: kate spade - black and white

This summer, we are doing something a little fun in the legal department.  We have scheduled certain days to wear specific colors/themes (e.g. animal print, nautical, tall shoes).  A couple of weeks ago we had black and white week, which was super easy for me since I have TOO many black and white pieces in my closet!  My husband always tells me I don't wear enough color.  Every time I go shopping I am just drawn to the neutrals...I can't help it!  So, I thought I would celebrate BLACK and WHITE for this week's mid-week inspiration and highlight only Kate Spade items since I am in LOVE with all of their black and white clothing, handbags and accessories!

vacation wrap-up: san diego - part 2

Sorry it too me so long to finally share part 2 of my San Diego trip.  In case you missed part 1, you can find it here.  So, on Saturday we went to the Del Mar Racetrack for the horse races, but before that, we headed to Steffani's (one of our friends) house for a little BBQ.  We met some amazing people and had a great time eating some yummy food and getting to know everyone.

After spending some time at Steffani's, we headed over to the track.  We had no idea what we were doing, but we did a little betting.

After the races, we got to see Weezer in concert as part of the racetrack's Summer Concert Series.  It was pretty Awesome!

 After the concert, we went back to Steffani's place, grilled some burgers and hung out some more.  We were leaving the next day (Sunday), but not before going to brunch at the Beach House (it's right on the water)!  Ready for some more food shots??

Dresser + Cake

Have you noticed how fashion inspires interior design and vice versa?  Both encompass the same elements...color, pattern and texture.  But these days, fashion and interior design seem to be inspiring something else...FOOD!  Appetizers, desserts and everything in between have become design and art pieces.  Shall we call it food couture?  Isn't this green chevron dresser and cake just amazing?

I am OBSESSED with dessert stations!  I think they are so BEAUTIFUL and they serve as decor in of itself at weddings, bridal showers, baby showers, and any other parties.  I am determined to create one of these at a future party!  Do you adore dessert stations?

vacation wrap-up: san diego - part 1

We had an amazing time in San Diego and the weather was perfect (high of 75 & low of 65)!  It was nice to get out of Dallas' sweltering heat...today is the 38th consecutive day over 100 degrees.  Anyways, my husband went a day early to play golf on Coronado Island, a place I have been wanting to go to for the past 3 times I have been to SD, but to no avail.  Maybe the 4th time will be the charm.  Look at this beautiful golf course!

  On Friday, we met our friend Jessica for brunch at Le Papagayo.  It was so nice to be able to sit on the patio and enjoy everything around us!

We were so full after brunch so we decided to walk it off around Encinitas.  Too bad we ended up walking right into a gelato place, Bubby's...supposedly one of the better gelato places in the city (so much for walking it off).  They had some unique flavors like honey lavender, chili chocolate, chili mango, cardamon and vanilla rose.  I got the espresso chip and mango...I know, not a good combination but I wanted the best of both worlds.  Ok, enough about food.  While we were walking, we found a cute modern furniture store, grounded ׀ modern living.  They had some really great stuff from Jonathan Adler, Dwell Studio, Chilewich and many others.  I took a few shots of my favorite displays.

These stamps would come in really handy when I am reviewing contracts at work!  If only I was able to make these type of comments.  Ha!

That night, we went to an art gallery in La Jolla where Jessica's friend was exhibiting a couple pieces of his own art so that was a cool experience.  After that we went to Alfonso's for dinner...some of the best salsa and chips I've had!  Our last stop of the night was at Burlap in Del Mar, a restaurant, but they also have a large bar, a DJ and a lot of room to lounge around.  It had only been open for 2 weeks and it was completely packed.  You should check it out if you're ever in the area.
